We welcomed two litters early in November from our lovely ladies Ostara and Moss.
Ostara is a black hood and Izaar is a dove self. They welcomed 10 lovely little ones this week and Ostara managed to keep them a secret for the first day as they didn't make any 'eeps' any of the times I went into the rat room.
Moss is a mink berkshire from Winnies Rattery who was paired to Misty's Mischief Jabberwock who is a black irish. This is a fluff to fluff pairing so we should have lots of angora rats available early next year. She safely delivered 12 babies this week and they are starting to darken with pigment.
Six little ones are rocking deep black pigment, and the other four are keeping us guessing — their colours will start to appear soon! We’ll know for sure once they molt (or don’t) around 5–6 weeks.
Moss has tucked her babies in with lab blocks — a clever way to keep snacks close so she doesn’t have to leave the nest while nursing.
Happy Birthday!

We had an issue with boys finding out how to get out of their cage and unfortunately two unplanned litters were the result. Flower had 9 babies from an unknown father. Some were adopted out and 4 were very skittish so stayed with us and were not bred from, just living out their pet lives.
Audry (like Flower) managed to get into the boys cage and had an unplanned litter. She had her 12 babies and was collected by us to raise here at the Rattery. All 12 are lovely and confident and have found their forever homes.
Anna was paired to Darwin of White Rose Rattery and had 11 babies. There are black, agouti and mink in the litter, several are fluffy.
